چکیده

Hybrid meson energies are calculated in the static quark limit with the Dynamical Quark Model (DQM). In the DQM, transverse gluons are represented as effective constituents with a dynamically generated mass. Hybrid masses are determined within the Tamm-Dancoff approximation for the resulting relativistic Salpeter equation. Although the general features of the adiabatic potential surfaces correspond with lattice data, the results disagree on level orderings. Similar problems appear to exist in all constituent glue models of hybrids. We conclude that constituent gluons do not accurately represent soft gluonic degrees of freedom. The steps necessary to correct this deficiency are discussed. Typeset using REVTEX 1

Heavy quark spectroscopy and prediction of bottom baryon masses

QCD describes hadrons as valence quarks in a sea of gluons and q̄q pairs. At distances above ∼ 1 GeV quarks acquire an effective constituent mass due to chiral symmetry breaking. A hadron can then be thought of as a bound state of constituent quarks. In the simplest approximation the hadron mass M is then given by the sum of the masses of its constituent quarks mi, first written down by Sakharov...

Se p 19 95 CONSTITUENT GLUONS FROM QCD

The notion of constituent gluon is introduced as a gluon propagating in the vacuum background field. The Hamiltonian approach for a system containing such gluon and a q ¯ qg pair is formulated, and the masses of lowest q ¯ qg hybrids are estimated. In the QCD–motivated constituent models not only quarks but also glu-ons should be confined, so that the states containing constituent glue should e...

Novel approach to decays, gluon distributions, and fragmentation functions of heavy quarkonia.

An effective, low-energy, field theory of s-wave quarkonia, constituent heavy quarks, and gluons is constructed which is manifestly gauge invariant. The interaction Lagrangian has the form of a twist expansion, as typically encountered in hard processes, and involves derivatives of arbitrary order. The parameters in the interaction are related with the nonrelativistic wave function, and standar...
